2 Ways To Maintain Your Septic Tank

Blog

If you have a septic tank, you need to make sure that you take care of it. Otherwise, you are going to end up with a huge mess in your yard that will cost you a lot of money. There are several very easy ways that you can make sure that your septic tank stays as healthy as possible, such as:

Be Careful What You Flush

When you are flushing things down your toilet, you need to make sure that you are flushing things that will break down in the septic tank. Things that don't break down will end up causing clogs in your tank and will cause you to have to spend a lot of money to fix it. So, don't flush things like feminine hygiene products, even if it would be more convenient to do it. You may also want to get toilet paper that is made for septic tanks. That toilet paper is designed to break down faster than other toilet papers will, which means that they are much less likely to cause a clog. You should also not flush hygiene wipes, even if they say that they are flushable because they don't (generally) break down at all.

Pump Your Tank

Having your tank pumped out regularly will mean that everything that could cause a clog or for your tank to overflow gets sucked up and taken away. That will make your tank last longer. How often you should get your tank pumped out depends on several things. For example, the more people who live in your house and are using the septic tank, the more often you are going to have to have it pumped. You may have to have it pumped out every couple of years instead of every four to five years. The size of your tank also influences how often you need to get it pumped. If you have just bought your house and you are unsure of when it was pumped out, you may want to get it pumped, just to be safe. That should mean that you don't have to have it pumped out as an emergency or have your septic tank overflow and cause a huge mess in your yard that may mean that you have to have your tank dug up and replaced.

If you have a septic tank, then you need to make sure that you are maintaining it well. Contact a company like Ace Sanitation Service for more information and assistance.

Building Septic Tanks on New Properties: Tips, Facts and Ideas

Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Heather, and a few years ago, my partner and I got a very cheap property up in the mountains practically in the middle of nowhere. I knew we had to build, but there were many elements that I overlooked. I never even considered the idea that we wouldn't be connected to a town sewer system for example. However, I learned quickly as we built our septic tank. Through the process, I also researched a lot of alternatives to ensure we got the perfect septic system for our needs. If you are building on a new property and you don't have the option of sewer, this blog has everything you need to know about septic systems. I truly love to help others, and I hope these posts help you.
